Delta Phi Epsilon is a democratically governed organization with policies determined at biennial conventions to which colonies, chapters, and alumnae associations send delegates. The Grand Chapter, as it is known, is a legislative body and elects the International Governing Board, which administers the affairs of the Sorority between conventions. The elected and appointed officers, the International Office staff, and Chapter Consultants carry on the day-to-day work that maintains the high standards for which Delta Phi Epsilon is known.
Delta Phi Epsilon is a member of the National Panhellenic Conference, (NPC) which is the umbrella organization comprised of the 26 women's organizations which are presently members. It is empowered to make recommendations become law only after ratification by member groups.
The Executive Committee of NPC (Treasurer, Secretary, and Chair) move into office by rotation, based on the date of each sorority's entrance into NPC. Delta Phi Epsilon's delegate served as Treasurer from 1987-89, as Secretary from 1989-91, and as Chairman from 1991-93.
